Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable fire reduction within transportation vehicles while allowing cargo transportation with fewer restrictions.SOLUTION: An aircraft container inerting system includes a nitrogen generation system, a first conduit coupled to the nitrogen generation system to carry nitrogen, an inlet located downstream of the first conduit and attached to an aircraft container to deliver the nitrogen into the aircraft container, an outlet attached to the aircraft container, and a second conduit coupled to the outlet to carry the nitrogen gas out of the aircraft container. A method includes: flowing nitrogen through a first conduit from a nitrogen generation system to an inlet located downstream of the first conduit, the inlet being attached to an aircraft container to deliver the nitrogen into the aircraft container; and venting the aircraft container to transport the nitrogen gas out of the aircraft container through a second conduit coupled to an outlet configured to be attached to the aircraft container.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
