PURPOSE: To provide a table device for a machine tool which can simplify structure, reduce cost, handle a work larger than one table and prevent chips from falling onto a linear way.

CONSTITUTION: A table device for a machine tool is so constituted that the table is moved along a linear way on a bed. Table replacing stations S1 and S2 are provided at both ends of the bed 2, and the length of the linear way 8 is set to reach the table replacing stations S1 and S2. A conveying member 16 is arranged movable in parallel with the linear way 8, and a conveying member moving mechanism 12 for reciprocating the conveying member 16 between both the table replacing stations S1 and S2. Moreover, a pair of tables 10 and 11 are arranged on the linear way 8 so that the conveying member 16 is held between them, and a connecting mechanism for removing/engaging the conveying member 16 with one or both of the tables.
