Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prevent a tail seal from a inversion phenomenon caused by external pressure by controlling a gap between a tail seal mounting section and a segment in a shield excavator.
CONSTITUTION: After the manufacture of a shield hull 1, an inside diameter of a tail seal mounting plate 3 of the shield hull 1 is measured. After the manufacture of a segment 2, the outside diameter of the segment 2 is measured, and the gap between the tail seal mounting plate 3 and the segment 2 is calculated from those measured values the gap E between a tail seal mounting section 4a and the segment 2 meets necessary allowance in the case of tunnel construction, and the thickness of a gap control plate 6 is so decided by the calculated gap that it has proper size to prevent a tail seal from inversion caused by external pressure. The gap control plate 6 is loaded between the tail seal 4 and the tail seal mounting plate 3.
