Abstract:
PURPOSE: To regularly measure charge converting ratio and increase the quantity of positive ion beam.
CONSTITUTION: A beam line 3 for transporting the beam from a negative ion source 1 is earthed and beam lines 15, 16 for transporting an accelerator body and positive ion beams is insulated to the beam line 3 by an insulating ring 27. The negative electrode terminal of a high voltage power source 7 the positive electrode terminal of which is connected to a charge stripper 8 is earthed through an ammeter 28. A negative ion beam current I1 is regularly measured by the ammeter 28. Positive ion beam currents I2, I3 different in valence number and energy are measured by ammeters 21, 22 through Faraday cups 18, 10. On the basis of the charge converting ratios I2/I1, I3/I1 measured by a microcomputer 23, a motor 24 controls a leak valve 13, and regularly keeps stripper gas feed quantity at an optimum value.
