A vacuum heat insulating material 10 is wound in a state of being closely kept into contact with a tank peripheral side portion 3. A contractible member 11 such as a heat shrinkable tube and a rubber tube is disposed at an outer peripheral portion of the vacuum heat insulating material, and the vacuum heat insulating material 10 is closely kept into contact with the tank peripheral side portion 3. Further the vacuum heat insulating material 10 is adhered to the tank peripheral side portion 3. A bottom portion 2 and a top portion 4 of the hot water storage tank 1 are covered with a lower heat insulating body 12 and an upper heat insulating body 13, and a lower end peripheral edge portion 10a and an upper edge peripheral edge portion 10b of the vacuum heat insulating material 10 are covered with the lower heat insulating body 12 and the upper heat insulating body 13 from their outer sides.
