To obtain the subject fiber, good in operating efficiency and yield, uniform in quality and excellent in economical efficiency by dry pulverizing a tannined leather waste.
A tannined leather waste is dry pulverized to afford the objective fiber. The tannined leather waste is regulated to ≤12 wt.% moisture content and the regulated leather waste is then pulverized with a dry pulverizer by setting the peripheral speed at ≥1,000 m/min and the clearance between a rotating blade and a fixed blade at 0.3-0.5 mm and the dry screening can further be performed with a round hole screen having 0.5-1.5 mm diameter to produce the fibers. The regenerated base paper for leather paper containing the fibers can be produced and may further contain natural cellulosic fibers and/or synthetic fibers. Furthermore, the synthetic fibers may be thermally fusible fibers.
