PURPOSE: To improve the driving efficiency of a device for driving a capstan and a reel with the use of different motors, while making the best use of the two motor driving characteristics.
CONSTITUTION: Under a normal running condition, a transistor Q8 is rendered conductive through a resistor R9 so that a transistor Q5 is rendered conductive through a resistor R8. When the potential of a reel motor 10 is higher than the value which is prepared by adding the base-emitter potential of a transistor Q4, the collector- emitter potential of the transistor Q5 and the saturated collector-emitter potential of the transistor Q5 to the forward voltage of three diodes D1, the transistor Q4 becomes conductive. As a result, even if an absormal torque is generated in a capstan motor 7, the variation in the torque of the motor 10 can be prevented. During the rewinding or fast fowarding operations, moreover, the base current is impressed upon the base of a transistor Q7 through a resistor R6 so that a transistor Q6 becomes conductive to impress 12 volts upon the motor 10.
