PURPOSE: To prevent wow and flutter, by preventing the movement of a tape to the broadwise direction of tape, in contacting with two ends prolonged to the lengthwise direction of the tape, at the setting of fast feeding mode and fast rewinding mode.

CONSTITUTION: When a fast feed mode setting switch (not shown) is operated, a lever 154 is energized 166 and turns counterclockwise and a tape guide 160 is contacted at the back side of a magnetic recording tape 32. The tape 32 is inserted to a tape guide groove 160a and ends 160b and 160c are contacted with two ridges prolonged to the lengthwise direction of the tape 32. On the other hand, a small gear 94 is geared with a gear 90 with a motor (not shown) and a reel shaft 16 is turned with a comparatively faster speed. Thus, the tape 32 is wound on a reel shaft 16 from a reel shaft 18, while the tape 32 is being slid with the ends 160b and 160c.
