PURPOSE: To make the magnetic recording and reproducing device thin structive, small-sized and light weight by bonding a tape-like and thin moving magnetic field coil array on a chassis and driving a leading guide block and a guide lever.
CONSTITUTION: The flat tape-like moving magnetic field coil array 28 is disposed along a guide mechanism 14 on the chassis 10, and a magnetic substance 23 such as a magnet or iron is disposed at the leading guide block 16 opposite to the moving magnetic field coil array 28. By this method, the conventional loading motor and link mechanism are eliminated, and a moving magnetic field is generated by the moving magnetic field coil array 28 to drive the leading guide block 16. Consequently, the magnetic recording and reproducing device can be thinned in thickness.
