To provide a tape printer having a new mechanism wherein the pressing motion of a pressing member becomes difficult under a state in which a cassette in a cassette fitting section has not been correctly set.
In this tape printer, when the cassette C has not correctly been set in the cassette fitting section, a gap is generated between the cassette C and the fitting internal surface 10. Therefore, the gradient surface 204 of a shorter rod 202 cannot sufficiently slide in the side groove 121 of the cassette C which is placed in the cassette fitting section 8. Thus, when a lever L turns, the butting member 205 of a longer rod 203 moves to the front surface position of the extended member 111 of a roller holder 101. Therefore, by attaching a cover to a main body, when the roller holder 101 turns in the anti-urging direction, the extended member 111 of the roller holder 101 turns in the anti-urging direction together with the roller holder 101, and comes into contact with the butting member 205 which is installed on the longer rod 203 of the lever L.
