Abstract:
PURPOSE: To enable multichannel, long-time recording and reproduction without causing deterioration of data by generating the multichannel data while performing data compression and expansion, and recording and reproducing the data on and from a tape.
CONSTITUTION: A channel counter in a data compressing and expanding circuit(DCE) 41 performs channel counter operation from one switching pulse(SWP) section to a multichannel section. When the channel count is the same with a select signal by a user, the DCE 41 expands only the playback signal of a selected channel as to the signal reproduced by the playback head of a head mechanism 10 and outputs it to DF 220 and DOUT 14. At the time of recording, the said expanded playback data and data which are inputted and compressed are multiplexed by the DCE 41 with a select channel signal and recorded on the corresponding channel.
