PURPOSE: To prevent a cut or a fault in take-up of a ribbon even when replacement is made by a cartridge being different in the dimension of the width of the ribbon.

CONSTITUTION: A first power transmission shaft 55 and a second power transmission shaft 56 are so fitted as to be rotatable independently of each other. The first power transmission shaft 55 is adapted to a cartridge having a take-up spool for a large width, while the second power transmission shaft 56 is adapted to a cartridge having a take-up spool 40b for a small width. A first engaging part 58 engaging only with an engagement groove formed in projection in a part near the inner circumferential fore end part of the take-up spool for a large width is provided in the outer circumferential part on the fore end side of the first power transmission shaft 55, while a second engaging part 60 engaging only with an engagement groove 59 formed in a part near the inner circumferential base end part of the take-up spool 40b for a small width is provided in the outer circumferential part on the fore end side of the second power transmission shaft 56, and clutch springs 63 and 64 which can generate slide torques corresponding to the first power transmission shaft 55 and the second power transmission shaft 56 respectively tively are wound round on these shafts respectively.
