Abstract:
To provide a tapping screw and its fastening method, capable of being screwed with low screwing torque, fastened with high fracture torque, and easily manufactured.SOLUTION: A tapping screw 10 is composed of a head portion 11, and a shaft portion 20 including an under-neck portion 30 projecting from a bearing surface 13 of the head portion 11, an intermediate portion 31 continued from the under-neck portion 30 with the same diameter, and a tip portion 32 continued from the intermediate portion 31 and tapered with respect to the intermediate portion 31 toward a free end, and has first, second and third thread ridge portions 21, 22, 23 continued from the tip portion 32 to the under-neck portion 30. The tapping screw 10 has a thread ridge height of the first thread ridge portion 21 uniform from the intermediate portion 31 to the under-neck portion 30, and the second and third thread ridge portions 22, 23 have the uniform thread ridge heights lower than that of the first thread ridge portion 21 in the intermediate portion 31, and have the same thread ridge height as that of the first thread ridge portion 21 at the under-neck portion 30.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 13
