Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tapping screw which dispenses with a prepared hole, does not generate chips in fastening, and prevents a fall of the chips.SOLUTION: This tapping screw 1 comprises a head part 2 at one end of a circular columnar flank part 3, and a bite-in part 4 at the other end, and in which male screws are spirally formed toward the flank part 3 from the bite-in part 4. The bite-in part 4 is formed into a conical shape within a range of 26 degrees to 29 degrees at its tip. Three or more of the male screws 53 having symmetric cross sections are arranged at a surface of the bite-in part 4, and the male screw 51 having an asymmetric cross section of a return-side flank angle which is smaller than an advance-side flank angle is arranged at the flank part 3.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
