Title:
TAPPING WORK PROCESS
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5859732
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent a thread groove finishing tap from forming double thread ridges by forming a chamfer with the same angle as the biting angle of a thread groove finishing tap on the opening of a hole to be thread cut.

CONSTITUTION: A hole 3 is bored on a work object 1 with a drill, next a chamfer 5 is formed on the opening of the hole with a cutter 4. Here, the angle α of the chamfer 5 is made euqal to the biting angle β of a No.3 tap 8. Next, after a thread groove 7 is formed on the hole 3 with a No.2 tap 6, the thread groove 7 is finished with the No.3 tap 8. Thereby, the tip of the No.3 tap 8 gets into a line contact with the chamfer 5, thus the tip of the tap can be prevented from biting and forming double thread ridges.
