PURPOSE: To lock on to a target intended in the beginning out of various objects, and to execute a tracking with a high reliability by storing a binary picture extending over a search range, executing a prescribed arithmetic, and selecting one target whose priority degree is the highest.
CONSTITUTION: A binary picture data in a memory 11 detected by an infrared picture guidance system is reorganized to a prescribed mesh unit by an operating part 12, and stored in a memory 13. The data in the memory 13 is sent to an arithmetic part 14, brought to weighted arithmetic, and thereafter, sent to an arithmetic part 15, and one target to be tracked is selected from the contents of the weighted data. In this way, a pseudo target is eliminated from in a picture detected extending over the whole search range, and a target whose priority degree is the highest can be selected and tracked.
