PURPOSE: To form a TATAMI mat base excellent in air permeability and elasticity by forming a cattail base while arranging mostly cattail grass in lines and rows and piling them in a body, and integrating an insulation board on the cattail base.
CONSTITUTION: A cattail grass of about 2m average length is divided into a root section of about 30cm length, a trunk of about 90cm, and leaf section of about 80cm, and the root section is chopped to about 5cm to form trash. In the next step, back face sheets 2 such as back water oat and paper are laid on a TATAMI mat making machine, and on the back face sheet, cattail grasses 3 in full length, before cutting, as lower arrangement and the trunk part 4 of cattail grasses for a body water oat are piled. On the body part 4, the trash 5 and leaf section 6 for upper arrangement are piled in order for forming a TATAMI mat of about 40mm in thickness, on which an insulation board 9 is made in a body. By this constitution the smoothness of the cattail base surface can further be improved.
