PURPOSE: To teach correctly the area of a hole regardless of the surface condition, illumination condition, etc., of an object by loading a window only to the circumference of the hole when the area of the hole made at the object is taught.
CONSTITUTION: A microprocessor 1, when a teaching command is inputted from a keyboard 9, first, makes the output signal (d) of an output part 11 into a prescribed time 1 and successively stores the binary data of one picture into a frame memory 4 from a head address. Next, the counting value N of a soft counter is 0, next, the AND of the binary data of an N address of the memory 4 and the window data of the N address of a memory 5 for setting window data is obtained, and stored into the N address of a frame memory 6. Next, it is judged whether or not the counting value N of the counter is coincident with the final address of memories 4, 6 and 5. When the judging result is coincident, the gravity center and circumferential length of the object are calculated based upon the memory data of the memory 4, and next, the area of the hole made at the object is obtained based upon the memory data of the memory 6.
