Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide systems and methodologies that facilitate pilot channel optimization schemes for high data rate communications transmissions.SOLUTION: Pilot channel control operations are monitored and controlled by a base station for one or more cooperating wireless terminals (e.g., user devices) such that one or more power features of the one or more cooperating wireless terminals can be changed in response to one or more selected pilot channel control operational conditions. A base station engages in one or more selected pilot channel control operations as part of pilot channel optimization comprising a jump detection technique, operates power control on another channel other than the DPCCH, engages in delayed power control, engages in a soft-handoff power control in the instance of a boosted pilot channel, and resolves ambiguity in grant messages resulting from a pilot boost.
