PURPOSE: To obtain an inexpensive telephone card being funded by a sponsor by providing a means storing commercial information in sound data and/or character data or picture data to the card.

CONSTITUTION: A commercial message from a sponsor is written in a data block 4 of a telephone card with commercial information. Furthermore, a rewrite disable flag representing the presence of picture commercial information is written in a message identification data block 5 and a commercial picture from the sponsor is stored in a picture data block 6 being a next block. Through the constitution above, after the telephone card is inserted, the commercial information stored in the block 4 and/or block 6 at first is sounded from a receiver or a speaker of a telephone set and/or displayed on a display device of the telephone set. Thus, the telephone card whose cost is reduced being funded by the commercial sponsor is served for the user.
