PURPOSE: To improve the operability by specifying and operating an extension telephone set other than an individually called extension telephone set to hold the trunk line incoming call.
CONSTITUTION: When a called subscriber of a slave machine 30 is near a master machine 1 and the slave machine 30 cannot respond to the call, he operates a specific key of a key part 18 in the master machine 1 to not only stop the trunk line incoming tone but also acquire a trunk line. A voice IC 26 is driven to send a wait message to a calling subscriber through a speaking circuit 15, etc., and thereafter, a cassette mechanism part 24 is driven to send a holding tone indicating this trunk line holding to the calling subscriber. While the holding tone is sent to the calling subscriber, the called subscriber is returned to the slave machine 30 and depresses a speech key of a key part 33. Thus, a master machine CPU 5 receives transmission from the slave machine 30 and turns off the cassette mechanism part 24 to stop the holding tone, and the trunk line speech is started between the calling subscriber and the called subscriber of the slave machine 30.
