A 2-way digital transmission system is adopted for information transmission between a telephone exchange 1, and an attendant board 5 and both a speech and data are sent through a couple of cables and fault information is written in memories 22, 23 of an attendant board circuit 6 from a central control circuit 11. The attendant board circuit 6 clears the memories 22, 23 after reading the fault information from the memories 22, 23. The attendant board circuit 6 discriminates a fault after a prescribed time, based on the content of the memory 23. The attendant board circuit 6 sends the fault information to the attendant board 5 based on the discrimination, and the attendant board 5 discriminates the fault in a prescribed time and displays it. Furthermore, the current processing state of the telephone exchange 1 is efficiently displayed on an LCD device of the attendant board 5 in a limited space.
