Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve convenience in speaking.
SOLUTION: When a user originates a call by setting 'English mode' as a speaking mode, voices in Japanese received from a portable telephone set 2 are translated to voices in English by a translation center 4 and transmitted to a portable telephone set 3 and voices in English received from the portable telephone set 3 are translated to voices in Japanese by the translation center 4 and transmitted to the portable telephone set 2. When the user speaks in Japanese as a language of his/her own home country, Japanese is translated to English as a language of a speaking party's own home country and voices in English are received by the portable telephone set 3 so that the speaking party can listen to the contents of speaking in English. Further, when the speaking party speaks in English, English is translated to Japanese and voices in Japanese are received by the portable telephone set 2 so that the contents of speaking can be heard in Japanese.
