To provide a telescopic shaft for a vehicle steering which can smoothly slide shafts fitted to each other relatively and secure rigid feeling in the coupling of these shafts in a circumferential direction.
Resin rods 41, 42, 43 astride three pairs of axial grooves 31, 32; 33, 34; 35, 36 formed in an inner shaft 10 and outer shaft 11 of a steering shaft 3, respectively. When relative phases of the inner shaft 10 and outer shaft 11 are within a prescribed range, both the inner shaft 10 and outer shaft 11 are elastically coupled to each other in a circumferential direction C by the resin rods 41, 42, 43. The individual resin rods 41, 42, 43 form a groove 50 extending in a longitudinal direction. The cross section of the groove 50 is formed in a U-shape opened toward the radial outside of the inner shaft 10.
