Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a telescopic shaft capable of restraining a surface pressure in an engagement region of a male shaft and a female shaft from being locally increased in an axial direction, and suppressing backlash between the male shaft and the female shaft.SOLUTION: A telescopic shaft includes: a male shaft 16A that has an outer periphery on which a plurality of protruding teeth 51 are formed; and a female shaft 16B that has an inner periphery on which a plurality of tooth grooves 41 are formed, and that is externally fitted to the male shaft 16A. The protruding teeth 51 and the tooth grooves 41 are engaged so that the male shaft 16A and the female shaft 16B are relatively slidable in the axial direction and rotational torque can be transmitted between the male shaft 16A and the female shaft 16B. In at least one of the male shaft 16A and the female shaft 16B, radial rigidity of a part in an axial range of the engagement region of the protruding teeth 51 and the tooth grooves 41, is smaller than that of the other part.
