PURPOSE: To facilitate the screen selection operation of a teletext receiver to utter sound corresponding to a screen and to enable a handicapped person in eyesight also to use the receiver.

CONSTITUTION: The teletext receiver is provided with a teletext data extraction part 11 to extract teletext from video signal input, a data analyzing part 12 to analyze the extracted teletext data to generate picture data, a data storage part 14 to store the picture data, a data conversion part 15 to read out the above-mentioned screen data to convert it into a video signal and a sound signal, a speech recognition input part 16 to input the voice to select a picture and output the signal to specify the selection of the screen by means of speech recognition into a control part 13 and the control part 13 to input the signal specifying a screen from the above-mentioned speech recognition input part 16 and to specify the screen to the above-mentioned data analyzing part 12.
