To solve the problem that the same station is preset to different channels when broadcast signals with the same channel frequency is detected in two overlapped frequency bands.
A tuning frequency is changed across a plurality of frequency bands as a whole by a PLL tuner, and when its is judged that any broadcast signal is present, presetting is carried out to the pertinent frequency. When the turning frequency of a plurality of broadcast signals belonging to the adjacent areas of the band edge is not isolated by a prescribed threshold or more, the PLL tuner is controlled so as to be locked to the tuning frequency of any of the broadcast signals. Therefore, it is possible to prevent the overlap preset of the same station only by adding a simple comparing operation to the conventional preset operation.
