PURPOSE: To prevent a power from being consumed wastefully when the timer recording of a television signal from a television receiver is performed on a VTR by detecting the connection/disconnection of the power source of a timer- set VTR, and connecting/disconnecting the power source of the television receiver by interlocking with the timer of the VTR.

CONSTITUTION: This receiver is provided with a function to connect/ disconnect the power source part 2 of the television receiver 1 corresponding to the timer setting of the VTR 11 in a state where the video input/output terminals of the television receiver 1 and the VTR 11 are connected normally. A false horizontal synchronizing signal generated at the television receiver 1 set at a pre- heat state is inputted to the VTR 11, and the false horizontal synchronizing signal outputted to the video output terminal 13 is detected at a television receiver 1 side by turning on the timer of the VTR 11, thereby, the operation of a television signal reproducing part 3 is started, and a television signal is outputted to the VTR 11. Thereby, it is possible to dispense with the setting of the television receiver 1 at a power source connected state, which contributes to the saving of the power.
