To securely display on a television set a message representing caution items of the day before a user goes out, and easily delete the displayed message from a recording medium.
A television set (television receiver set) includes a memory for recording messages, etc. When a power button is depressed (S2), if a message not displayed yet is recorded in the memory (YES in S4), a control microcomputer generates an alarm sound from a speaker, and displays on the display the yet undisplayed message being recorded in the memory (S5). When the user depresses a decision button on a remote controller (S6), the control microcomputer stops the alarm sound. After deleting the message displayed on the display from the memory (S7); the control microcomputer decides whether or not a yet undisplayed message exists (S8), and switches off the power of the television set (S10) when there is no undisplayed message in the memory (YES in S9).
