PURPOSE: To make the winding length of a metallic strip long and to improve heating and cooling capacity by turning a casing mounted with plural pieces of rolls in the stage of winding the steel strip on revolving rolls and applying a heat treatment such as heating or cooling thereto with these rolls.

CONSTITUTION: A metallic strip 13 is passed through winding rolls 11, and 11 disposed between conveying rolls 12 and 12, and is subjected to a heat treatment such as heating or cooling with these rolls 11, 11. Here, the rolls 11, 11 are mounted to a casing 18 and the casing is turned by a turning device 19, by which the positions of the rolls 11, 11 are changed and the length of the parts of the strip 13 to be wound on the rolls 11, 11 can be controlled in a wide range of 0W3/2(π)rad winding angles, and therefore it is possible to control the heat treatment operations of heating, cooling, etc. for the strip 13 as desired.
