PURPOSE: To ensure the temperature compensation for an electronic timepiece with a simple constitution, by controlling the division ratio of a variable divider with the output corresponding to the time constant depending on the temperature of the temperature compensating capacitor at the temperature sensing part.

CONSTITUTION: The temperature sensing part 3 is sampled by the signal 100 supplied from the timing generator 5, and an AND process is given to the setting pulse 102 sent from the generator 5 for the time of the time constant depending on the temperature of the temperature compensating capacitor 114 at the part 3. And thus the pulse signal 103 in the number corresponding to the temperature is applied to the division ratio setting part 4. As a result, the division ratio of the variable divider 2 is controlled according to the temperature, and accordingly the temperature compensation is given to the oscillation output of an electronic timepiece through a simple constitution. Thus an automatic control is secured for gains or losses of the time step in accordance with the temperatures.
