To provide a temperature compensation type oscillator the adjustment steps of which can be simplified with high accuracy by operating an oscillation circuit so as to accurately adjust a temperature characteristic of a crystal chip itself while the crystal chip and an IC chip or the like are mounted in a package so as to continuously perform generation of compensation data and storing works after that.

The temperature compensation type oscillator is provided with: an oscillation circuit 20; a temperature detection circuit 18; a temperature compensation circuit 30 to keep the frequency of an output signal of the oscillation circuit 20 nearly constant based on a temperature detection signal of the temperature detection circuit 18, and a selection circuit 40 for selecting whether a temperature compensation function of the temperature compensation circuit 30 is brought into an active state or an inactive state.
