PURPOSE: To provide a temperature controller for a fixing roller which does not influence the fixed image of a copying machine with a little overshoot.

CONSTITUTION: A heating source 3 is controlled by a contact type temperature detecting element 5 till a specified point of time from starting the warm-up of the fixing roller, and hereafter the heating source 3 is controlled by a non- contact type temperature detecting element 4. Since the temperature detecting element is switched in order to control the temperature of the heating source 3, the oversheet at the time of warm-up is reduced and the uneven fixing of the fixed image caused by the scratch of the roller 1 is prevented.
