PURPOSE: To control a temperature with high accuracy, by installing a temperature controller to an image pickup device itself, so that a temperature can be made constant.

CONSTITUTION: In an appearance inspecting device, a heater 15, a cooling air nozzle 17 or a cooling fan, and a temperature sensor 16 are installed to the system 1 and the system 2 of 2 sets of industrial television cameras 13 provided on said device, respectively, therefore, it is possible to heat the camera by the heater 15 whose heat capacity is small, and to locally cool it by the cooling air nozzle 17 or the cooling fan, and accordingly, it is possible to eliminate variations of camera temperature due to variation of temperature distribution of a room temperature, and a temperature difference in the body.
