Abstract:

To provide a temperature estimating device for an internal combustion engine capable of accurately calculating and estimating a temperature of an exhaust device even in starting the internal combustion engine at a low temperature.

This temperature estimating device 1 for estimating a temperature of a hydrocarbon absorbent 16 of an exhaust system 3 of the internal combustion engine 2 by calculation, is provided with an ECU 20. The ECU 20 calculates an adsorbent estimated temperature TTRS of the adsorbent 16 on the basis of the engine revolutions NE, an intake pipe absolute pressure PBA, an engine water temperature TWX, an intake temperature TAX and a detected humidity of exhaust gas VHUMD (steps 40-48, 60-63). This calculation is started when the dew condensation is eliminated after the generation of dew condensation in an intake pipe 5 (YES in step 41).
