PURPOSE: To facilitate operation and handling, to simplify constitution and to reduce size by switching and displaying the last and current measured values of temperature through the operation of a single switch, and starting and stopping temperature measuring operation.
CONSTITUTION: When a switch 1 is closed, a counter 5 and a latch circuit 6 are released from being reset and an oscillator 2 and a counter 3 are also released from being reset; and the oscillator 2 generates a reference clock MCK, which is frequency-divided by the counter 3. A display decoder 14 is released from being reset and the last temperature measured value Nx' is read out of a storage part 12 and supplied to the display decoder 14 through an outside-measurement-range detection part 13, so that the value is decoded and displayed on a display device 15. The current temperature measured value is compared with the temperature measured value held in the storage part 12 at the rising point of an output Al every time a counter counts up repeatedly unless the switch 1 is operated; when the current measured value is larger, the value in the storage part 12 is rewritten into the current measured value. Therefore, the display device 15 displays the highest temperature which is measured so far and the display value is updated as the temperature rises.
