A thermistor system and a method for quickly predicting a body temperature based on a temperature signal received from a temperature detection probe when the probe touches a body executes a non-linear multi-parameter curve fitting process, and changes a parameter or predicts a temperature in accordance with an error in curve fitting. A reference for a difference between the curve fitting and temperature data exists. When curve fitting over the predetermined number of time frames cannot be permitted, the process is switched to a continuous monitoring state. Determination of start time based on a measurement time frame for prediction is executed by a tissue touch threshold combined with prediction delay time.
