Abstract:
This temperature-responsive polymer has a repeating unit derived from a vinyl ether monomer containing a temperature-responsive group, and, on at least one terminal of the polymer chain, has a structure represented by formula (1) below. -Y-Ar1-N=N-Ar2 (1) [In formula (1), Y shows an ether bond, a thioether bond, the group -NH-, or the group -OR1-* (R1 indicates an alkylene group, and * indicates the position of bonding to Ar1 in formula (1)), and Ar1 indicates a substituted or unsubstituted divalent aromatic hydrocarbon group, and Ar2 indicates a substituted or unsubstituted monovalent aromatic hydrocarbon group.] This polymer can be easily produced and can express temperature responsiveness even when supported on a fibrous substrate. Also provided are a hydrophilicity/hydrophobicity control agent containing said polymer, a hydrophilicity/hydrophobicity control method using said polymer, and a temperature-responsive polymer/substrate complex supporting said polymer.
