To provide a template matching method capable of achieving processes with precision in a short time through a smaller amount of calculations than conventional methods.
Using an assembly of known pattern classes prepared as a database for classifying unknown patterns expressed by a quantum-mechanical physical system, and using a template pattern expressed by the quantum- mechanical physical system typical of the characteristics of each pattern class, template matching provides classification operation whereby the quantum- mechanical template pattern best suited to a given unknown quantum-mechanical input pattern is selected. A Bayes average score for evaluating matching accuracy is introduced and processed as a quantum Bayes optimization problem for determining the quantum-mechanical classification operation maximizing the Bayes average score, whereby the quantum-mechanical interference effect of a quantum state expressing the pattern is effectively produced.
