Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a tempo extraction device which exactly extracts tempo from music signals without requiring transcendental information on input music.
SOLUTION: The music signals are inputted to a sound production time detecting means 11 and are converted to sound production time serial signals. A self-correlation calculating means 12 calculates the self-correlation of the sound production time serial signals. A peak detecting means 13 detects the peak position of the self-correlation patterns. A beat structure analyzing means 14 analyzes the beat structure of the music from the peak position of the self- correlation patterns and the level thereof. A temporary tempo calculating means 15 calculates a tempo candidate from the peak value of a self-correlation function. A tempo deciding means 16 estimates the tempo considered to be most adequate from the beat structure and the tempo candidate. The tempo may then be exactly extracted without requiring the transcendental knowledge on the inputted music.
