PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tension applying device which enables especially quick tension application when used.SOLUTION: A dial 4 is configured in a housing, and there are provided a first latch gear 8 equipped with an axial direction center projecting portion 9, and a second latch gear 10 in which the center projecting portion 9 of the first latch gear 8 is inserted. A tensioning rope is received in a peripheral groove 34 of the second latch gear 10. A spiral spring 40 is coupled to the center projecting portion 9 at an inner end portion 18, and is coupled to an inner peripheral surface of the second latch gear 10 at an outer end portion 19. When the center projecting portion 9 of the first latch gear 8 is rotated through the dial 4, tension generated in the spiral spring 40 is transmitted so as to rotate with the other latch gear 10, and so as to generate tension on the tensioning rope. Two ratchets 14 and 15 respectively engaged with one of both latch gears 8 and 10 keep the engagement with the latch gears 8 and 10 and restrained against a tensioning direction, when the tension is applied by a drive mechanism.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
