A disc tensor 13 is provided with a second disc 72, a solenoid 81, a pressing spring 86, and a gel member 65 as a shock absorbing member. The second disc 72 performs a tension imparting action by coming into contact with the traveling thread 20. The solenoid 81 and the pressing spring 86 can press the second disc 72 in a direction for increasing tension imparted to the thread 20. The gel member 65 is arranged between the second disc 72 and the solenoid 81 (or the pressing spring 86).
