To provide a tension applying device capable of being easily transported and handled.SOLUTION: A tension applying device includes a support part 2 placed on the ground, a pair of endless holding parts 3 provided on the support part 2 to hold a rope 51, a pressing part 4 that is provided on the support part 2 and can hold the rope 51 with the pair of holding parts 3 by pushing the holding parts 3 toward the rope 51, a load receiving part 5 that is provided on the support part 2 to receive a load from a crane, and a driving structure 6 that is provided on the support part 2 and presses the pressing part 4 to the holding parts 3 with a force according to the magnitude of the load received by the load receiving part 5.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
