To provide a terminal unit enabling a usage of various functions through the use of contents with a simple operation even when a display screen has a small size.

A background image having a larger size than the display screen of the terminal unit 1 is related on a background image table 44 with a content table 35 for setting the various function using the contents in each division area of the background image. The terminal unit 1 selects the desired background image from a web storing the plurality of background images, or from a freely removable storage medium, etc., and obtains it. A content table name corresponding to the background image is obtained from the background image table 44, and the applicable contents table is also obtained from a contents table providing site. When the background image is scrolled, and an arbitrary area is displayed in the display screen for selection, the function set in the area is performed based on the contents table.
