Title:
TERMINAL STRUCTURE OF OPTICAL FIBER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS6117107
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent the breaking of two fiber cores when the fiber cores are put in an axial hole in a ferrule, by putting the fiber cores parallel in the hollow of a sleeve having considerably lower hardness than the fiber cores.

CONSTITUTION: The sleeve 10 is made of plastics such as nylon or vinyl resin hving considerably lower hardness than the material of fiber cores 6A, 6B. When the fiber 5A, 5B are fixed parallel in a ferrule 1 with the sleeve 10, one 6A of the fiber cores and other 6B are first inserted and passed in and through the hollow of the sleeve 10 successively. Since the fiber cores 6A, 6B are circumscribed with each other and inscribed in the hollow, they are made parallel to each other. The sleeve 10 is placed in the hole 3 of a large diameter in the ferrule 1 and pushed until it reaches a part connecting the hole 3 to an axial hole 2, and after inserting the fiber cores 6A, 6B in the hole 2, an adhesive 7 is injected into the hole 3.
