Title:
TERMINAL WASHING TANK ELEVATING DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3249265
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent the radioactive contamination of operating water, the mass generation of radioactive waste and water leak from the lower part of a cylinder.
CONSTITUTION: The upper part of a piston rod 6 piercing the upper part of a cylinder 7 is fixed, and the cylinder 7 is supported elevatingly by a piston 12 and the piston rod 6 so as to make the cylinder 7 movable. A basket 3 for storing the end of spent fuel is fitted to the lower part of the movable cylinder 7 through a rod 11. The carry-in of radioactive material to the cylinder 7 from a washing tank is thereby eliminated completely so as to prevent the radioactive contamination of operating water. The complete elimination of carry-in of radioactive material to the cylinder 7 from the washing tank reduces the possibility of radioactive contamination of operating oil of a hydraulic press by a large margin. The operating water can be thereby reused, and the generated quantity of radioactive waste is reduced. Since the piston rod 6 pierces the upper part of the cylinder 7 and the lower part of the cylinder 7 is closed, water leak from the lower part of the cylinder 7 is prevented.
