PURPOSE: To perform test, measurement, check, etc., accurately by bringing a tire to be tested into pressure contact with a pneumatic tire through the treads thereof thereby making flat the contact face of the tire to be tested.

CONSTITUTION: A tire 10 to be tested is brought into contact with a pneumatic tire 20 provided with a frictional face 22 having properties approximate to a traveling pavement or slippery pavement, e.g. abrasion resistant properties or friction resistant properties, through the treads thereof. One tire is then turned to cause followed turning of the other tire and both tires are held while being pressed such that the abutting face of both tires becomes flat. Consequently, the tread pattern of the tire 10, the structure, arrangement and mounting angle of a spike located on the tread face can be tested with the same feeling as the actual state resulting in accurate test and reliable measurement, test, check, etc.
