Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject inhibitor having excellent male hormone- inhibiting activities, further having high safety without hormomimetic activities by using an extract of Impatiens balsamina L. as an active ingredient.
SOLUTION: The objective inhibitor is obtained by using an extract obtained by cutting an extract whole plant or any one or more of leaves, stains and petals of balsam having a scientific name of Impatiens balsamina L. after drying or without drying, extracting the cut plant at a normal temperature or under heating by a solvent, as an active ingredient. A bisnaphthoquinone derivative, which is a main active ingredient in the extract, is isolated and purified by repeatedly carrying out a thin layer chromatography method, recrystallization, etc. The derivative is also obtained by condensing 2-hydroxy-1,4-naphthoquinone with acetaldehyde or acetal in the solvent at 50-80°C. The extract is formulated in an amount of 10-500 mg per dose per adult expressed in terms of the dry weight in a case of a preparation for external use, and 0.5-100 mg in the case of an internal agent.
