PURPOSE: To use testosterone-5α-reductase inhibitor comprisng a specific triterpene compound or its salt as a remedy for alopecia, acne, prostatic hypertrophy, etc. without causing side effects like female hormone.
CONSTITUTION: The titled inhibitor containing a compound shown by the formula (R1 is OH, OPO3H2, etc; R2 is α-, β -H; R3W4 is CH3, CH2OH, etc.; R5 is α-, β-CH3, etc.; Y is O, or H2; with the proviso that R5 is β-bond when R2 is in β-bond), or its salt as an active ingredient. Testosterone-5α-reductase has high activity at the target tissue (e.g., gonad, sebaceous gland, prostate, etc.). Then, the titled inhibitor remedies alopecia, acne, prostatic hypertrophy as an anti- male hormone agent. 3β-Dihydroxy-phosphoryloxy-olean-12-en-18β-30-oic acid, etc. may be cited as the compound shown by the formula.
