Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a novel tetraazaporphyrin compound useful as a compound for optical recording medium by reacting trans and cis dicyanoethylene compounds with a metal or a metal derivative.
SOLUTION: A dicyanoethylene compound represented by formula I (wherein X and Y are each hydrogen, an alkyl, phenyl, cyano, a halogen or the like, provided that not all of them can be hydrogen atoms) and its trans isomer are reacted with a metal or a metal derivative at 90-350°C in a solvent to obtain a tetraazaporphyrin compound represented by formula II (wherein M is a pair of two hydrogen atoms, oxygen, a di- to tetra-valent metal atom which may have a halogen or a metal atom which may have an alkyl or the like; X1 to X4 and Y1 to Y4 are each hydrogen, an alkyl, a cycloalkyl, phenyl, cyano or the like, provided that not all of them can be hydrogen atoms) and its isomer. This compound is an optical recording medium material applicable to a high- density disc system using laser beams from a semiconductor of a short- wavelength oscillation.
